Según el Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) en el Perú dos de cada diez niños sufren de asma. Un problema que se agudiza en estos meses del año, por el cambio de clima.
El Minsa, a través de la Estrategia Sanitaria Nacional de Prevención y Control de Daños No Transmisibles, recordó que nuestro país tiene la más alta incidencia de casos de asma en Latinoamérica. Por tal motivo una de sus principales prioridades en estos momentos es controlar y prevenir esta enfermedad.
La coordinadora nacional de dicha estrategia, Dra. Cecilia Solís-Rosas García, durante el taller "Cuidado con el asma infantil explicó que "el asma es una enfermedad inflamatoria del aparato bronquial que se manifiesta de diferentes formas y grados, siendo las características más frecuentes la tos y la dificultad para respirar".
Solís-Rosas, señaló, también, que esta enfermedad es hereditaria y que no tiene cura, pero si puede ser controlada con medicamentos.
¿Qué agentes producen el asma?
Evitar esta enfermedad es eludir a los agentes que la originan. El polvo, la caspa de animales, las pelusas, el polen, los olores fuertes, el aire acondicionado, la contaminación ambiental, las infecciones virales y el resfrío, son los causantes de esta enfermedad. Así lo afirma el neumólogo-pediatra Ildauro Aguirre, del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre-Niño "San Bartolomé"
